Review - Galt Playnest

The Galt playnest is a large rubber ring covered in a sensory material cover, forming a little nest to sit a baby in.  Suitable from very small children (partially inflated) through to toddlers, I think they are perfect for babies learning to sit unaided, to give them the extra support.

The play nest is brightly coloured with a farmyard theme, and has eight sensory areas around the outside, including a squeaker and a fluffy pigs nose.  As soon as I sat Dylan in it, he went straight for
the pig's nose. . . with his mouth.  He got very excited touching everything, and checking that none of it was edible.

For a younger child, the nest supports their backs and is perfect when they are slightly unstable as they cannot fall  and bash their little head.  For Dylan I found it great as I could sit him in the middle, fill it with toys and know that he was safe and entertained for a while so that I could get on with a little housework.  Everything was in easy reach and he couldn't fall trying to get at something.

Priced at £29.99 and available from the Galt Website I think they are fantastic value, and look forward to using it with another baby.  We spent months piling up cushions behind Dylan so that he had a soft landing, whilst this soft playnest would have been perfect and much easier to use.

Machine washable, we use the playnest as a safe place for him to eat his snacks and shake the crumbs outside when he is finished.  I do think that the playnest will cease to be useful as soon as Dylan learns how to climb out of it, but as he is still not crawling at 9 months  I am not worried yet.  You can see how comfortably he fits in it still.  Fully inflated the item is rather bulky, but it easily deflates and can be stored away.  We leave ours up permanently as it does get a lot of use!

The Galt playnest is a fantastic product, and I think for a baby between 4 and 8 months is perfect.  Dylan loves it and doesn't seem to feel trapped as there is so much to touch and play with all within his grasp.  I love the bright colours and fun pictures and the different materials make it a great sensory experience.
