Listography - Top 5 things I love about kids

This month's listography is titled 'Top 5 things I love about kids'.  Not necessarily your own, but what we love about the little people in general, so here are mine.

1)  I love how the smallest thing can become so magical.  The very best toy I can give Dylan is not an expensive all singing, all dancing computerised whatsit, it is something I use.  When we get on the bus, it is the bus ticket that he wants, and it will entertain him all the way home.  He is just so excited to have something that I play with too!  The sheer joy on his face when we get out a pot of bubbles is priceless.

2)  I love what they can get away with wearing.  I would never get away with a tutu and wellies but on a 3 year old?  Simply adorable.  Put me in an all in one tigger suit and I am ready for fancy dress but put a baby in one and he is ready for a day out!  Grown-up clothes are so boring and tame in comparison.

baby tigger suit, tigger sleepsuit, baby fancy dress

3) I love how blunt they are.  A small child is not afraid to ask anything, and as much as your face might start to resemble a giant tomato, you can't help but giggle as they ask some poor woman why she is so fat, or why she has a moustache.  I don't know what age they learn discretion, but things become a lot less interesting at that point!

4) I love what I can get away with when I have a child with me.  It has been years since watching the rugrats was considered acceptable, but suddenly I can watch cartoons to my hearts content as this is what children do, and I am with one.  I can roll down a hill, and jump in every puddle, I can play hide and seek and make den's.  Children make all these things acceptable again, and I love it!

5) I love the way they need you.  It is nice to feel loved, and even nicer to feel needed.  They rely on you.  For those few months or years before they start nursery or school, you are their world, and their entire world.  Everything boils down to you as a parent, and they rely on you for the little things, like getting them baking cakes with them and tying their shoelaces and the big things, like loving them unconditionally, and keeping them warm and looked after.  Sometimes I realise just how much responsibility it is, but I wouldn't change a thing.  I love how much Dylan needs me, and it won't last forever!

So there are my 5 things that I love about kids.  If you fancy joining in, or reading any of the other lovely mummy's lists then check out Kate Takes 5

  3. I wish I could have some of the larger baby toys in adult size. Like bouncy chairs, jumperoos, even buggys! Lol. Would love to be pushed about cocooned under a waterproof sheet!! Haha maybe it's me being lazy :/ x

    1. An adult Jumperoo would be ace! Maybe we should start our own business selling toys in larger sizes?

  4. That was a lovely list - and oh, so true.

Another thing I love is that they say the most profound/funniest/loveliest things, without even realizing it. Your little one isn't at a talking age yet, but be prepared for a whole new world of fun when he starts chattering! For example, yesterday at the dinner table, my three-year-old suddenly decided to expound her views on death:

"We fall in the ground when we are dead. We fall into the big rocks. That's called a graveyard.

And once we're dead, the cows will clap."

    1. I would love to see clapping cows! At the moment all we have is dadada, baba, rara and the occasional muum. I can't wait to hear the nonsense he will inevitably spout later one though x

    1. I sneakily give Dylan the case to play with and keep hold of the phone. He hasn't realised that he is being duped yet ;)

  7. Oh this is lovely! I agree with all of these. Especially clothes, I shouldn't want to be able to wear something ridiculous and impractical but sometimes I do!

My little ones are all grown up now and would look equally as silly as me (and probably wouldn't let me dictate what they wear anymore...)

    1. Maybe we should make tutus and welly boots a trend? It will be all over the catwalks next season!

  8. Just curious to where you got this suit from? And what brand? Thankyou! :)
