Plum Interactive Kitchen Review

I have two boys who love to cook and they were delighted with this interactive kitchen from Plum products.  It took me the best part of two hours to assemble and my hands are clearly not used to such manual labour, but it was worth it (and the instructions were not too hard).

The wooden kitchen is white with blue and pink detail and has plenty to occupy little hands.  The door to what looks like a microwave doubles as a chalkboard, so they can write their shopping lists as they play.  The buttons for the hobs turn and click, and the taps turn as well, although Dylan was not sure why it wasn't running actual water.  Children can change the time on the clock and the oven door opens.

Once put together, the kitchen is pretty sturdy and I have no doubt it will cope with my crazy duo.  We have furnished it with some of our own kitchenware, but it does come with the two pink pans on the hob and three wooden utensils too.  It would have been nice to have somewhere to hang the utensils but the boys are not bothered by this.  Many details are painted onto the wood, from tea-towels hanging on the side to a mixer and bowl in the cupboard.

There is an interactive side to this kitchen, and behind the oven front there is a padded space for a tablet, which works with a downloadable app.  Unfortunately we haven't really been able to test this yet, as the boys take it out straight away, but this would be better with an older child.  I will update this post when I can!  I did think that the fake front would fit in a bit better, but if there is no tablet in the oven, then there is nowhere to put it, and Archie keeps pulling it out.  In the pictures on the box it looks like it sits in there comfortably.

This kitchen is fun and full of possibilities.  I have had endless cups of tea made from it as well as some rather questionable combinations (anyone for pineapple, coffee, fish juice and chicken pie?).  Both Archie at 19 months and Dylan at 3 can spend hours entertained and this kitchen offers those little extras to their experience.

The kitchen retails at £99.99 from the Plum website.

Disclaimer:  I was sent this interactive kitchen for the purpose of this review,
but all thoughts and opinons are completely my own.

  1. I love the unisex design of this kitchen as so many are bright pink. The interactive aspect looks good but it's a shame the oven doesn't sit right when there isn;t a tablet inside x

  6. Looks like a really fun kitchen - lots of fun things for the kids to do. The tablet thing sounds like a really great idea for older kids, I can imagine S would really like that :)
