A Very Hungry Caterpillar First Birthday

This weekend saw us celebrating Archie's first birthday with a Very Hungry Caterpillar themed party.  I have always loved the Hungry Caterpillar, and the little guy's nursery is decorated with the same theme.  We hired a local hall, invited along some friends and ate cake.  Here are a few photos from the day.

I made bunting out of green paper plates and paint

and we were sent a gorgeous wooden number one to use a centre piece from Handmade by Zoe

As it was a first birthday party and full of little people, I served up Hungry Caterpillar style fruit

Which went down very well with one particular toddler!

I bought personalised cake toppers from ebay

and I bought beautiful personalised chocolates from Wrapped 4 you

Archie was surrounded by family and friends

and I made a caterpillar cake, with a plain sponge covered in coloured icing and coloured lolly sticks for ears, and then green iced cupcakes.

(yes I am terrible at icing cakes)

I even extended my creativity to Archie's outfit, and sewed two strips of Very Hungry Caterpillar fabric onto a plain white vest, to look like braces.

The party went so well, and I hope all the children enjoyed it.  Archie had a great time exploring somewhere new, playing with the toys and being the centre of attention! The toddlers had Very Hungry Caterpillar sticker books to take home instead of a traditional party bag, and the babies had bibs and bath toys.
