The End of Summer

As much as I love Autumn, it is sad to say goodbye to the summer.  Days out at the beach, picnics at the park and bath time in the garden are all coming to an end as we move towards crunching leaves and jumping in puddles in our warm winter wellies.  We have been making the most of every last sunny day this September by enjoying the great outdoors.

baby sat in the sea, baby enjoying the beach

We are lucky enough to live right by the sea so have been making the most of it, (and soaking our clothes) building sandcastles, paddling and just playing with the sand and
the waves.

We have played in grandma's garden, pushing a toy lawnmower round and round and round and round. . . Playing on the slide and being pushed around in your little car.

messy play, shaving foam play, baby messy shaving foam

messy play with shaving foam, 13 month old and messy play

We have done messy play and not worried about the weather.  You have played in pools of bubbles and fished for plastic animals in big tubs of shaving foam.

baby's first steps, walking in the park

walking son and father, walking with daddy, baby learning to walk

We have been to the park to feed the ducks and practice your walking.  You loved touching all the trees, pointing at every bird and exploring the grass with mummy and daddy.

Colder weather won't mean an end to our outdoor adventures though, and we are looking forward to a lovely autumn.  How have you been enjoying the last few sunny days?

  1. I always get a bit sad at this time of year because it means summer is ending. I could happily have summer all year round (apart from Christmas day, maybe. Then it's allowed to be all wintery!).

Lovely photos, and I love that little push along car!

  6. Smashing photos and such beautiful words too. I think September has held some lovely weather and like you we have been out as much as possible. I adore that first photo looking down on the wave foaming all around your little gorgeous boy. I think you are right and by next week it might be jumpers and wellies, but you never know, perhaps one more week?
