Sleep and the Snuzpod

Sleep is one of the big topics of conversation for new parents, more specifically the lack of it.  It makes sense that babies don't sleep for long, they are born with tummies the size of a cherry but as adults who are more than capable of a good eight hour stretch, it is pretty tough.

Sleep was a big conversation for us before Finn even arrived though, as I had decided I wanted a co-sleeper cot.  After having both the other boys in bed with me for large parts of those early months I recognised that they often need that closeness, especially in the fourth trimester as they adapt to life in this big scary world, and with two other children to run around after during the day, I wanted to make night times as easy as possible.

snuzpod, co-sleeper crib

We had already decided on a Snuzpod but we were lucky enough to be sent one to try out with Finn and I am a total convert.  I am managing to keep the closeness of co-sleeping and the ease of not having to get out of bed for feeds yet still having my own space and the knowledge that Finn is safe.

The Snuzpod works as a three in one unit, it can stand alone as a traditional crib, attach to a bed with one side taken off as a co-sleeper crib or you can remove the top and use it as a moses basket.  At the moment, we are just using ours as a co-sleeper and I can't recommend it enough.

The space is larger than a moses basket so perfect for bigger babies and the sides are soft and strong.  It was easy to put together (well I think it was, I was in labour whilst the bloke built it, but it didn't take him long) and comes in a choice of colours - we went for the white.

Underneath there is a fabric shelf off of the floor which I use to store nappy changing equipment and spare clothes and muslins for emergency middle of the night changes.

It took Finn a while to move from hospital cot to home, and then from sleeping only on me to in his snuzpod but we got there and he is now happy in there every night.

We can also highly recommend their bedding package.  Having a baby with reflux means LOTS of washing and we have found that the sheets come out perfectly each time.  The mattress protector is genius and has kept our mattress hygienic and clean.  I love that it can be tumble dried too as ours is washed most days.

Disclaimer:  I was sent a Snuzpod for the purpose of this review but all thoughts and opinions are completely my own.

  1. If I had another (never gonna happen!) I would definitely want a bedside crib like this. It looks great - I love the wood and neutral colour too. Love that blanket as well! x

  2. pro tip - make sure you matress if a good fit for your bed frame or you'll be pushing the matress over every night to get rid of the gap!

    1. I always have mine sleeping next to the bed, but I love how this brings them even closer, and how you don''t need to pick them up to feed in the night
