8 Weeks Old

These first 8 weeks have been full of drama, tears, change and learning, but things are starting to feel more settled and on track.  There were things I thought I knew about parenting after having two, but Finn is rewriting the book, and I feel like a first time parent with him all over again.

We finally have some growth, although he is still a teeny 8lb 8oz (Still smaller than Dylan was at birth).  Finn still fits in newborn or up to 1 month clothing and the smallest nappies we can get.  People often comment on how alert he looks as his size is misleading.

8 weeks old, milestone cards, 8 week old baby, baby boy

He is a very alert baby though, awake for long periods of the day and his wide eyes always search for me.  He likes to be able to touch and see me at all times but I am rewarded with smiles and coos now.  I wouldn't describe him as the smiliest of babies, but if you catch him at the right time of day, you see his beautiful little face light up and his brothers delight in telling me that they are his favourite every time a smile goes their way.

Finn has definitely got the hang of day and night, and he goes into a deeper night sleep around 8pm, waking for the day at around 8am..  He hasn't worked out that we prefer him to take most of his meals in the day though, and wakes every 2-3 hours for milk throughout the night.  He is sleeping in his Snuzpod for part of the night, but inevitably ends up in our bed too for some of it.

Finn is still in that magical fourth trimester as he adapts from being in the womb to the outside world, and it means he is happiest when he is warm and held tight.  I often have him in the sling around the house, as whilst he likes his bouncer and basket, he doesn't last long before he wants my comfort again.

Dylan and Archie love being involved in everything, helping out with nappy changes and always asking for cuddles.  They want to include Finn in everything, and whilst he isn't always keen on quite how close to his face Archie likes to be, he seems to love having them around and the constant entertainment.

Finn is getting bigger and stronger everyday, and it is amazing watching him develop.  These past 8 weeks have been so long in so many ways, but I am enjoying these newborn days so much still.

  1. Oh he does look like a teeny little doll, Becky... so so cute. Glad to hear that things are starting to settle down a bit now, he's definitely had a dramatic first couple of months. x

  2. He looks so cute. Makes me wish for another to bundle up. I'm glad he's settling in and he sounds like a real mummy's boy already.

  3. Aww so adorable and so small. I love the outfit. :-) x

  4. Oh he's so LOVELY! And I think he looks like you. I'm glad that the boys are enjoying the new addition to the family.

  5. How is he already 8 weeks old? WOW! Time is flying. He is so adorable. I can't get enough of your Baby spam on instagram. Lovely.
