Aldi Mamia

I have to admit that until recently, I had never shopped in Aldi.  There is no particular reason for this, I have heard nothing good or bad about the supermarket and it is just as local as the other major competitors.  I was invited along to an event to have a look at the Aldi Mamia range and I was curious to see exactly how their products would compare to the major brands.

Aldi sell
their own range of nappies, wipes, baby lotions and potions and baby food amongst other things and they are certainly cheaper than the leading brands.  My babies are so precious I want to know that they are getting the best and I was really impressed with the quality of the products.  Aldi cut out the frills - no fancy flooring and signs, no weekly price changes, no bag packing.  What you see is what you get and I like the market feel of the shop.  It does mean that we are not paying for anything other than the products we buy and looking at the price of their nappies, I can really see the savings.

As well as their baby range, we got to see some of the products for mums, and I have been glued to my under-eye caffeine stick which retails at under £2 and really helps me look alive after a long night with an unsettled baby.  I would really recommend checking out some of their products and seeing how much you could save on your weekly shop - enough to treat yourself to a nice big cake I reckon!

Aldi have sent us some nappies for the boys to see whether we could swap our leading brand for the Aldi Mamia nappies and over the next month we will be putting them to the test.  Archie is in a size 3, and a pack of 56 is only £4.49, whilst Dylan is in a 5 and they are priced at 40 for £4.49.  I have not found another brand offering the same prices and I have to admit I love the design and they feel lovely and soft.

I will be posting again at the end of the month to let you know how we got on, but after 3 days we have had only had one leak (compared to a daily leak in our previous nappies - newborn pooplosions) for Archie and none for Dylan.  They are lasting through the night for my super sleeper toddler without a single problem.  We have had no red marks, no nappy rash and no issues and I have a sneaky feeling I will be swapping to Aldi Mamia for our disposable nappies once the test is up!

If you are going to try these nappies for yourself, then look out for Aldi's Mum and Toddler event starting on 30th May 2013, there are lots of bargains to be had!
