This photo was taken on the Tongariro Crossing, a 26km hike in New Zealand. Not only did the walk
take us past these beautiful blue sulphur lakes we took in the volcano used in Lord of the Rings films, forest green and snow covered mountains. It was worth every blister and stopping for a picnic in this spot was just perfect.

Possibly my favourite photo this was taken in South Africa. I flew straight to Cape Town from London just as the snow was starting to fall and the 37 degree heat was a shocker! Even so after 3 or 4 days I decided to tackle the lion's head mountain. Armed with a backpack full of water, a camera and a packed lunch, I found this bench just as I was starting to get hungry. I would love to see a better picnic spot! The sandy mountain overlooked the Cape Town fishbowl and I could have sat here all day taking in the beautiful views.
Back to New Zealand, (A perfect country for photography!) and I enjoyed an amazing birthday present of a heli-hike to the top of a glacier. We flew up and then had a guide show us round, walking through ice tunnels and into ice caves and filling up our water bottles in the perfectly clear stream. Although the glacier was pure ice we were in shorts, hiking boots and crampons as the sun was shining and the weather warm.

This photo may be more orange than red but I couldn't resist entering it. This was taken in Poland a few years ago. We had been on a rather emotional trip to Auschwitz and in the evening went for a quiet walk along the river. As the sun started setting an orange-red glow covered everything from the snow to the river to the sky and seemed a rather poignant end to the day.
Travelling has always been a passion of mine and I am so glad I got to see so much of the world before settling down and starting a family - not that it seems to be stopping me as we are taking Dylan on his second holiday later this year!
As this competition closes tomorrow I have not tagged anyone but if you would like to participate then let me know and I can tag you!
Nice pics!
