Turning Two

Turning two is a pretty big thing and we got to celebrate with Archie this week as he hit that milestone.  He may have been mostly unaware, but his big brother was not, and with the impending arrival of a new brother, we wanted to make sure Archie had a day just for him.  We didn't plan too much, but we did manage to fit in three of his favourite things - Peppa Pig, Balloons and Family.

The night before was a bit manic - I am not know for being organised so everything was left until then, but by the time he woke up, his gifts were wrapped, balloons were blown and the cake was ready and waiting.  Rather than trying to drag helium balloons back from the shop, we picked up a Balloon Time tank and did it at home - it meant we could refill them once they stopped floating too, as it is common knowledge that 2 and 3 year olds do not get fed up of balloons - ever!

Having a brother only 18 months older means you already have so many toys, so we didn't spoil Archie with gifts, and chose a few things instead, some playdough diggers and new books were the biggest hits.  We did have a day of treats planned though, and Peppa Pig at the cinema was the first.  Whilst this boy is not one to stay still, the combination of Popcorn and that pesky pig worked a treat and he was glued to the screen all hour.  A lunch of pizza and ice cream  after a run around went down well and the birthday boy had a well deserved snooze after a morning of Birthday adventures.

In the evening we had family round, and the balloons meant he and his cousins were happy playing.  My homemade cake lasted all of five minutes when it was brought out, and Archie seemed to like it which was the main thing!

It seems crazy to think that it has been two years since our little Squish arrived, how much he has grown and changed in that time, and how much we all have.  Whilst the days may have been long, the two years have definitely been short, although thinking back to a time when he wasn't in our lives seems like another lifetime ago.

I'm working with BritMums and Balloon Time as part of the “Celebration Club”, highlighting inventive and fun ways of using balloons. I was provided with a Balloon Time helium kit and have been compensated for my time. All editorial and opinions are my own. Visit www.balloontime.com for more information and party inspiration.
