The Babybeau Ellie

Rather than diminishing over the last three years, my love for changing bags appears to have grown and with another little person on the way, they are going to be a part of my life for the forseeable future.  We have been reviewing the Babybeau Ellie and I have had nothing but compliments about this luxury leather bag.

The Ellie ignores what a changing bag 'should' be and instead focuses on what a mother would rather carry on her arm.  There are no childish embellishments or cute features, but a sleek shape more reminiscent of a designer handbag than something used to carry nappies.  The Ellie can easily be used post baby, as the multi-pocket inner can be completely removed leaving no trace that this is anything other than a spacious handbag.

I did find that the poppers often came undone when I was opening and closing the bag which was a bit of a shame, but the inner stayed put and it didn't affect usage.  The fact that the poppers are so high up on the inner, means that the top of the bag stays together, making it look more sleek and keeping out the inevitable rain.

I found the inside of the Ellie roomy enough, and I could carry what I needed for the boys for a day out, bar drinks.  As we use cloth nappies, we do tend to look for more spacious bags, but the Ellie could cope with 4 nappies, wipes, a wet bag, spare pants and shorts for Dylan and a few snacks easily alongside the change mat.  The bag comes complete with a beautiful leather changing mat and bottle holder (although we haven't had a need for the bottle holder).

There are lots of pockets, and a seperated area which I have used for purse and keys.  This includes an attached small bag as well for any valuables  As a non-baby bag, the Ellie can fit in a laptop, tablet or similar as well as everything you need for a day, and I am sure it will be accompanying me to many coffee shops when I go and work on my laptop.

There are three strap options, a longer strap that can be detached, but fits over pram handles or over the shoulder, a medium length strap perfect for carrying on your arm, and two short handles for carrying in your hand.

We really like the Ellie changing bag, it is well made, it looks great and it is spacious enough for what we need.  It retails at £199.95 and is available from John Lewis in three different colours

  1. Had this been around when I was pregnant, I know I would have picked it. Classic colours, classic style and made of leather. Just perfect.

  4. What a lovely looking bag, I am starting to crave a more 'adult' bag now as I have been using changing bags for over 6 years now. I have always been a 'bag' lady as opposed to a shoe lady, you can never have too many!
