Our First Stunt Scooter

The children have all been scooting around since their second birthdays, but have recently discovered the joys of skate parks, being able to go a bit faster and try something new, so when Micro Scooter sent us their 'Ramp' stunt scooter, designed for children aged 5-12, they were all excited to test it out.

We made a day out of testing it, scooting down into town to jump on the open top bus which travels along the coast to a neighbouring town.  There is an outdoor skate park next to one of the playgrounds that we love and all four children had a scooter with them.  They were so excited to try it out on the ramps and immediately noticed that it was better designed for them than their current scooters.  The ramp scooter is non adjustable in order to maintain integrity on stunts and you can see in the pictures how it works for different ages and heights (Finn is 6 and 123cm, Archie is 8 and 135cm, Dylan is 9 and 152cm tall). You can spot Cora in the background whizzing around on her Mini-Micro scooter too.

They haven't mastered many tricks yet but are all keen to get lessons at the local indoor skate park and master the jumps and stunts that they have seen others doing, which might require me getting another two stunt scooters! Cora is nearly 5 but still quite petite for her age so I think it might be a bit tall for her at the moment (at around 102cm she is a little below the height of an average 5 year old).  They have been trying to jump on their current scooters but all agreed it felt easier on the stunt scooter.

The Ramp scooter can be used as a starter scooter for stunts but is also great for getting from A to B and can be used as an everyday scooter too.  There is a 28 day no quibble return policy and replaceable parts so this is a great scooter for active children.  We have been using Micro scooters for years and have always been so impressed that they are the only brand we look at now!

You can find all of the Micro Scooter range on their website including the Ramp Stunt Scooter which retails for £99.99 and comes in three different colours.  There are a variety of stunt scooters depending on ability and use and another range for older children.

Adventures on our Micro Trike

We have long been fans of Micro Scooters and we now have 5 in the family (all four children have one as do I) and so I was excited to have the chance to try out their newest addition, the Micro Trike.  Designed as a push along trike for young children the Micro Trike folds up small, is super lightweight and has the option to add a waist harness too.

I originally planned for it to be something Cora could use as all three boys scoot everywhere but there have been many arguments as Finn loves using it too and both are within the weight and age limit (from 18 months to 20kg).  The trike comes in four colours at the moment- black, white, pink and blue and we chose pink as we don't have much in that colour really.

I love how easy the trike is to fold up and carry around.  It weighs less than 5lb and is so compact that it can easily fit in the boot of the car.  Micro suggest it could replace the buggy and for some journeys it has been for us, although if we are out long enough for either of them to fall asleep then I do need a proper buggy instead.

Cora is petite at around 80cm and is tall enough to use it.  She turned 2 last month and is secure and mature enough to understand the limits and she seems a perfect age for it.  Finn is around 98cm and he can reach the floor with both feet when he wants to.  He loves pushing himself forward like this, however it is the handle that does the steering so he can't go far! I find it really easy to push (much easier than other push along trikes we have tried) and the steering is simple even with a heavy toddler on.  I can reverse and turn sharp corners with one hand and the trike has all the stability and resilience of the Micro Scooters that we love.

The product is so simple and we are always being stopped by people that want to know more! It won't be replacing a buggy completely for us but it is perfect for the school runs and to let little ones join in with bigger siblings on bikes and scooters.  The Micro trikes cost £79.95

We were gifted this Micro Trike but I was not required to write about it, I just wanted to share our thoughts as we are really impressed.

Saving on Scooters with Flubit

Archie was always one to do his own thing and as soon as he could walk he wanted to assert his independence and walk everywhere.  As he turned two, he slowly starting moving back into the buggy though, and as his third birthday approached he became to reluctant to ever get our of it.  Not only do I have another baby on the way, he is also a rather heavy boy and pushing Archie and Finn around with my growing bump wasn't easy!

I took to the internet and the general consensus seemed to be a scooter.  We had one already, but it was old, knackered and rather wonky.  The metal wheels were noisy and we seemed to be getting nowhere.  I went back to instagram and asked for scooter suggestions, Micro Scooter seemed to be the recommendation and then it was trying to find the best deal.

If you haven’t heard of it already, Flubit.com is an online marketplace with over 40 million discounted products available. Unlike other “daily deals” sites, it allows you to get a better price on the stuff you actually want – you just give them the Amazon.co.uk link of the item you want to buy and they’ll get it for you cheaper through one of their online retailers. The same exact item, just cheaper!

No one is exactly sure of how they do it, but Flubit.com say their platform “empowers consumers to demand a discount on items they want to buy, and gives online retailers the chance to win more orders whilst protecting their margins.” So it seems like a win-win situation for everyone.

Discounts are on average 10% lower, but can be as much as 15% off depending on the product / category. For example, electronics, toys and games, home and garden, film & TV are all typically good categories, although slightly more niche products might not be available at such good discounts – but it’s always worth trying!

So if you’re shopping on Amazon why not give them a go? Just find the item you want to buy, copy the product web address and paste it into Flubit.com.

First you will get an “instant offer”, typically only a couple of percent cheaper.

If you don’t need to order the item right then and there, you can choose to wait for a couple of hours for a better deal.

I put in the URL from Amazon for the Micro Scooter and managed to save myself nearly £5 by shopping through Flubit (an 8% discount).  The scooter arrived soon and it is safe to say that Archie hasn't been back in the buggy since!  It is always under his foot or in his hand, and he is determined to scoot everywhere.

It’s completely free to use and there is no obligation to buy. If you fancy giving them a go but not sure what you want to buy, check out their recent round up of popular toys for 2016 here
