First Walk in the Snow

Last year Dylan was too little to really understand anything about snow and seemed to spend the whole time outside fast asleep snug in his snowsuits.  This year he is very aware and after spending the morning watching it from the window, we took him out for his first walk in the white stuff.

Our little corner of the country always seems to be the last to get any snow so it was lovely to wake up to a white road after watching my facebook timeline and twitter feed fill up with pictures of snowmen and wet wellies.  After getting all dressed up in our warmest gear, and
the little man's new set of gloves, scarf and hat with his favourite Disney character on - Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Dylan seemed a little unsure of stepping out into it, but it didn't take long for him to get his confidence.

He was happiest walking between mummy and daddy holding both our hands, and we were happiest with him there as we could stop any slips.  Being out without the pushchair was lovely (and necessary as we couldn't get it up the road through the thick snow).  We walked all the way down to the seafront, where we saw giant snowmen and dog walkers throwing snowballs for the poor puppies to catch.

Down by the sea the snow was untouched and the roads still thick with snow rather than wet with driven-on sludge.  The air was colder and there was no shelter from the breeze but we had fun playing peek a boo with the snowman and shaking the snow off of leaves and plants.

It was lovely to get home to a warm and dry house and some toasted teacakes and much as we love the snow, I am hoping that it is a little easier to get out and about tomorrow!

How have you been enjoying the snow?

  1. Cute photos of Dylan enjoying the snow. We made the most of it too and it's fair to say that my little guy is obsessed with it. All he's wanted to do all weekend is go outside and sledge. X

    1. We went for another walk when there was hardly any left and he needed to step in every little bit of it he could find!

  2. Lovely photos Hun, I'm glad he enjoyed the snow. We had good fun in it but I must admit now the weekend is over I want it all to disappear, our road is far too sloppy to get the car off the drive so I am going to have to get cabin fever and stay in until it gets less slippy x

  4. We had exactly the same experience here this weekend. There aren't so many 'firsts' at the moment so the first walk in the snow was really special and especially since we had so much snow! Glad you enjoyed it too.

  7. My that is a lot of snow and to think we have had none at all. I think that snow man takes 1st place as the BIGGEST I have seen and there are a lot on Country Kids this week! Thank you for joining in with your family snow fun.

  8. Love the footprints in the snow and Dylan looks super cute in his hat and scarf. This post would be great for my Mummy Mugshot linky if you fancied linking up. (popping over from Country Kids)

  9. Great photos. The footprints in the snow shot is really great, the number of steps he takes to each one of yours is very sweet.
