The lover is currently 8 and is already what they call a free reader at school. Harry Potter has really engaged him as have all the Roald Dahl books, but anything will do I just have to check the content is suitable. He even has a mini dictionary to check words he's unsure of.

In contrast the 9 old reads well but would rather be playing computer games. The books he does dip in and out of are factual ones like the Guiness book of Records, joke books and Where's Wally?

It's strange because we read with them both the same, coming to us at the same time through adoption we did all our story reading together. It's just there personalities and preferences. We love books and I still read to them both now. Currently We are reading M.Morpogurgo's My Friend Walter.

Great post. We read to them every night from very early on and they have access (and always have had access) to loads of books and things to read. They read on their own but we still read to them most nights. I love that sometimes when they wake up early, I can lie in bed and hear that they are reading and sometimes don't come downstairs for ages.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11838426651793558151noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272181942422526971.post-88596440706420863162012-10-02T09:53:46.648+01:002012-10-02T09:53:46.648+01:00That's so lovely!
