13 Weeks Pregnant

As the first trimester comes to an end, I am finally coming out of the tired fog that characterised the first few weeks.  Whilst that pregnancy glow is still a distant dream, I have enough energy to get through the day again and things are only getting easier.

Now that my pregnancy is finally in the open, I can wear what I like again without worrying people will think I just ate a bit too much cake.  It feels like I have known for so much longer this time, but in a way I have as I found out a week earlier than with both the boys and my scan was later on too.

Whilst the baby is only just coming out of my pelvis, and is measuring around 7cm, my tummy says something different.  It is actually looking far smaller now than it has been though, as I was incredibly bloated in the early weeks.  The bloating has died down and the 'real' bump is starting to poke through.  My pre-pregnancy clothes are already being put aside for stretchy, baggy and comfy and my old T-shirts no longer reach the top of my jeans.  I have been doing some online maternity shopping this week and when it all arrives I should feel more kitted out for the coming months.

Our 12 week scan showed a stubborn baby, who refused to allow all measurements to be taken even after some vigorous star jumps I was made to do in the ultrasound room.  I have to go back this week for a second scan to get a confirmed due date and so that they can get all the details and take bloods.  I am not at all upset that I get to go in again, as seeing my little baby on the screen is so reassuring whilst I am still waiting for those telltale signs that little Pretzel is having a party in my uterus.

For a rather strange reason, this bump is called Pretzel.  It wouldn't make sense even if I explained, but that is his or her name for the next 27 or so weeks (longer if we have as much trouble with a name as we did with Archie!)

  1. It must have been harding hiding it this time round, people were guessing at 8 weeks with LL as relaxed tummy muscles and bloating mean that it was so hard to hide it, so I think if I had a third they would guess after conception. ;) haha. I love the t-shirt, thats a clever idea. x
